Immortality,longevity,aging,death.

I know few people are interested in this kind of topics but i'll post this for myself primarily. The information in this post is gathered from verifiable sources and my personal philosophy, you decide which is which and before you post a reply in this topic make sure you followed the links to the official sources of the information and read the full article.

The DNA is a blueprint, a script of how it should interact with elements from the environment, when it encounters something new it evolves, when it encounters volatile and harmful substances, it degenerates, it breaks down and that is the process of aging. When the DNA is damaged to a certain extent, the chain reactions in the body become too violent or stop and that leads to what we call death.

The reproductive system is a fail-safe mechanism, built into the organism in case the DNA breaks down. Just like the excretion system is a fail-safe to the digestive system, it is there to excrete substances that cannot be assimilated into the body. I believe the goal of the DNA is to arrive at a point where it doesn't need to use the fail-safe mechanisms and evolve infinitely.

Biological immortality has been achieved, not by man and men are far from becoming biologically immortal due to the toxic environment they create for themselves and the wrong use of science.

A few biologically immortal species of life-forms have been found and studied on Earth:

    • Turritopsis nutricula, a jellyfish, after becoming a sexually mature adult, can transform itself back into a polyp using the cell conversion process of transdifferentiation.[3] Turritopsis nutricula repeats this cycle, meaning that it may have an indefinite lifespan.[14] Its immortal adaptation has allowed it to spread from its original habitat in the Caribbean to "all over the world".[15]

And now here are a few people that could give you lessons on how to live long:

The oldest man in recorded history:

Li Ching-Yuen or Li Ching-Yun lived to the age of 256. His purported high age is an example of a longevity claim and is probably a longevity myth. He claimed to be born in 1736, while disputed records suggest 1677. Both alleged lifespans of 197 and 256 years far exceed the longest confirmed lifespan of 122 years and 164 days of the French woman Jeanne Calment. His true date of birth was never determined. He was reported to be a herbalist, martial artist, and tactical advisor.

One of his disciples, the Taijiquan Master Da Liu told of Master Li's story: at 130 years old Master Li encountered an older hermit, over 500 years old, in the mountains who taught himBaguazhang and a set of Qigong with breathing instructions, movements training coordinated with specific sounds, and dietary recommendations. Da Liu reports that his master said that his longevity "is due to the fact that I performed the exercises every day – regularly, correctly, and with sincerity – for 120 years."[4] Returning home, he died a year later, some say of natural causes; others claim that he told friends that "I have done all I have to do in this world. I will now go home." After Li's death, General Yang Sen investigated the truth about his claimed background and age and wrote a report about his findings that was later published.
He worked as a herbalist, selling lingzhi, goji berry, wild ginseng, he shou wu and gotu kola along with other Chinese herbs, and lived off a diet of these herbs and rice wine.[5] Li had also supposedly produced over 200 descendants during his life span, surviving 23 wives.[6][7]

Before you utter brainless comments like:
-"Wikipedia is not a credible source of information"

    Ask yourself:
-"what is a credible source of information?"

And if you arrive at the conclusion that not even your own senses are 100% fool proof then you will understand that all information may be a lie or truth depending on how relevant the information is to you existence.

To overstate the argument deliberately, perhaps we are hallucinating all the time and what we call perception is arrived at by simply determining what hallucination best conforms to the current sensory input.

    -V.S. Ramachandran
“Alpha waves in the human brain are between 6 and 8 hertz. The wave frequency of the human cavity resonates between 6 and 8 hertz. All biological systems operate in the same frequency range. The human brain's alpha waves function in this range and the electrical resonance of the earth is between 6 and 8 hertz. Thus, our entire biological system – the brain and the earth itself – work on the same frequencies. If we can control that resonate system electronically, we can directly control the entire mental system of humankind.”

i'd rather go and gather all dragon balls and gain "imortality" than do all of this complicated stuff xd

There is nothing complicated about eating the right stuff and not eating the wrong stuff.

Here you have some practical tips on what to eat to protect your DNA from damage. You eat food every day so why not take some time and know about what your body needs to function at optimum efficiency. Google antioxidants and see which fruit contains them, the DNA can use them to protect itself.

the Chinese herbalist had a vague idea about what to eat, his age was achieved through the fact that he had access to nutrients. We know what to eat now but we can't get what we need so easy.

well, it's not really everything about which food you eat (even tho it's one of the most important parts in human's health), there's just a small amount of people (at least in my country) who do sports and actually care about their health.

Having good and healthy life means:

    1. Eating picky foods (which sometimes is hard to be done, depending on his/her economical status)
    2. Doing sports
    3. Sleeping normally (7-8 hours)
    4. Not having stress (stress kills people)

indeed food is not the only factor that improves life span, there are many other factors such as radiation, ultraviolet light and others but eventually it comes down to how much you can protect your DNA from damage.
