Having problem connecting under restricted network (heavy firewall)
Hello,
Yesterday, I moved to the dorms. I have here a bad-ass firewall: can't use torrents, can't play warcraft !!!!
I figured I need a proxy to tunnel myself through 8080 while having a good ping
Please help me ... really want to play!!!
(Also, if you can, help me with the torrents problem )
If the 8080 port is open then its easy You can just put the port of your warcraft 3 on 8080
Options -> Gameplay -> Game Port -> 8080
Same goes for other applications that need an open port. There is only 1 restriction tho... You can only put 1 program to 1 port, so you can only run 1 program at the same time.
Unless your going to use a program that makes a proxy at your own pc and puts them all trough the same port. But for this I can't help you.

Thank you for your help, but it didn't work for me. I guess the network here is more restricting then i thought....
Any other suggestions? (using Putty or tunelier? but i need a close to Israel Proxy for low ping purposes)
Thank you in advance,

Tried 80 and 8080: closed everything (80 is used by the browser) and changed the connection settings as you suggested, but it just wouldn't connect.
I am frustrated ... It doesn't give me any error message ... it just tries to connect until times out.
Any suggestions on a good port scanner that will show me what ports are being forwarded outside the network?
Also, any ideas why it doesn't work with ports 80, 8080 (browser works fine with both http and https)?
After entering Warcraft III, next to the "Battle.net" button, there's a magnifying glass. Click it and change to "Eurobattle.net" instead of "Eurobattle.net GProxy". GProxy uses additional ports.
Avoid using port 80, use 21/22/23. If you're under a heavy firewall, port 80 will be, most likely, monitored for non-browser activity (basically, people trying to bypass the firewall). Plus, port conflict in port 80 would happen.
21/22/23 are used mainly for administrative purposes.
He uses both protocols and if UDP is blocked then your screwed...

I could remove all posts and reply with only one message.
Ask your network administrator to allow port 6112 (out-/ingoing) which is most likely not going to happen. The usual dorms only have access to usual ports (HTTP/HTTPS/SMPT)
EDIT: As for tunnelling; you could set up a VPN connection to your home and play from there... Just note that VPN will be blocked as well.
lol as far I know its possible and also done by some friends to put all trafic trough port 80 http...
They set up a http tunnel to their pc at home and then had a ping of ~250...
But I can't give you details for this you will have to google a bit around
