Dear eurobattle.net players! We want to introduce you the first

XPAM'S CHESS TOURNAMENT

Chess tournament will be played on a custom w3 map - Peppar's Multiplayer Chess , which offers everything that a normal chess does. You can download the map from attachement. You will need it in order to play on the tour. THIS IS NOT SOME RANDOM CUSTOM MAP FOR FUN BUT A REAL CHESS


The rules below are applied for future tours.
Current rules:
-tour is currently in eight finals, proceed reading the rules from eight finals section
-new version of the map attached. YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE OLD ONE. New map offers -roll system to declare the player colors

How to participate?

1. Register CLOSED
If you want to play on the tour, register in this thread, example below.

2. Tournament system
Tour's brackets will be shown here
Torunament system on all rounds is bo3 and sudden death. Game time is always 15 minutes.

ROUND 1
Round 1 is round of 32. 32 registered players get random opponent to play against. Winners proceed to round 2.

ROUND 2
Round 2 is round of 16. Winners of previous round get their opponent based on this system: Winner of pair 1 get's winner of pair 16, winner of pair 2 gets winner of pair 15...and so on until winner of pair 8 and 9 are linked.

semi-finals

Winners of each round are linked the same way as in round of 16.

Players arrange the time they want to play between them. If someone doesn't show up or can't show up for the game for some reason, he get's an automatic loss. Make sure you get some evidence to proove someone's absence. The date and time when all games of specific round need to be SUBMITTED is declared by the tour organiser.

3. Gameplay

I advise you to play few games with Peppar's Multiplayer Chess before the tour, to get used to the gameplay and it's functions. The map also offers 10 observer slots, camera changes, color changes and many other, all accessable by pressing ESC key. Observers are not allowed in the games, to avoid help from other players (unless all the players agree to have them).

Player colors
1 player writes -roll on the beginning and the map will give him random color. You switch the colors by pressing ESC (both go to observer and then take respective colors).

WIN/LOSE/DRAW
Win: You win by checkmating the opponent's king. You win if the opponent runs out of time. You also win if the opponent surrenders the game.
Lose: You lose when your king is in a checkmate. You lose if you run out of time. You also lose if you surrender the game or if you don't show up for the game.
Draw: A draw occurs when it appears that neither side will win.
-stalemate: You have no legal moves and your king is not in check
-when neither player has sufficient material to checkmate the opponent or when no sequence of legal moves can lead to checkmate. In such situation, players may agree to draw. In any other situation, agreement to draw is forbidden (exception-read bottom).
-the "fifty-move rule" (when the last fifty successive moves made by both players contain no capture or pawn move) and "threefold repetition" (when the same position occurs three times) does not direcly count as a draw. If the position can repeat forever, players may agree to draw. If they do not agree to draw and 1 player runs out of time, it's still a draw (will be confirmed from the replay). So basically, both rules are applied, but you don't have to count those 50 moves. I believe this is not suitable in 15 min game.
If players draw all 3 games, or if they both have 1 victory and a draw in bo3, they continue to play until 1 of them wins.

4. Submitting the game

When you do a CHECKMATE, make a screenshot. When you exit the game, save the replay. After that, post the screenshot and the replay in this topic. The map also has the Start Again option, accessible from ESC menu, so you can play all 3 games without leaving the game.

Example of your submission (text in bold is NECESSARY)

If you find a bug, report it here and we'll try to fix it. Abusing a bug is bannable from tour.

5. Prizes
The winner will receive CHESS TOURNAMENT AWARD

I have no idea. Depends on the response from players (32 slots).

You can register and if you won't manage to come I'll give your slot to someone else.
