The moment we all have been waiting for!

I'm proud to be first on this forum to announce this: Warcraft movie is announced!!! Looks like it's going to be in cinemas in far, far 2015, but still, it's worth the waiting.

Personally, I think it's huge responsibility to direct something like this. I'd like to see this in animated version (like WoW trailers), but I think the plan is to be something like Lord of the Rings.

So... What are your thoughts? Predictions? Are you prepared? :D

ye , its stupid. They could make a shitload of money from a WoW movie or movies, animation is cheap to make these days even a random Joe can animate pictures with all of the good software available. So what could the delay be from, animation is cheap and accessible, they already have the voice actors, they have a ton of lore to animate so they don't lack ideas, they even have the wc3 and the wow cinematics to enhance and then include.

It's actually not that easy. First of all, people expect top class of Warcraft franchise (who wouldn't?). It's big responsibility to take something like that into consideration and risk making a huge fail instead of something truly epic.

Besides, animation is not cheap at all... If you want the best animation (such as in WoW trailers), you need shitload of money to make movie like that (but that's actually not such problem for Blizzard, I assume).

Its true that the Warcraft fans have high expectations but Warcraft never stood out as having exceptionally good graphics, compare the latest patch of World of Warcraft with Aion, Tera, Crysis, Skyrim, Lineage,Guild Wars and other crap that doesn't have a long history like Warcraft but are known to have very good graphics. I personally expect high from the voice actors and in terms of animation, make it at least as good as wow with ultra graphics. If they do that then i wont be disappointed.

But yeah animation is cheap ill give you at least 2 examples of everyday noobs that animate, Redminus and Chris O'Neil. They're best known for their work on newgrounds but they also have tens of millions of views on youtube for their animations.

Making the whole movie an animation on level of intros would be huge money so I can understand them going lotr style. Lotr turned out pretty good with CGI so I don't really see the problem.

The problem is that Blizzard hyped this movie few years ago with release date 2009. Then there was no news at all, date was pushed up to 2012 and then it got canceled completely (imdb). While WoW is losing subscriptions these tards are waiting and waiting.. if they released the movie on the peak of WoW it would bring much more attention. If they don't hurry up WoW might aswell be dead by that time.

You really think that animations such as in WoW trailers are cheap? I overheard that good animation is expensive as hell. But 100 million $ (as they announced) should be enough, I think.
Game's graphic is close to disaster. But we're talking about 2004. year game here with ancient engine.

yeah they cant fit all the lore in 3 hours and if they do people will rage because they skip huge events, they cant even fit the warcraft 3 campaigns in 3 hours.

They wont fit whole lore in 1 movie, only a part of it. For example: First war, Second war, Third war, Rise/Fall of Arthas etc. There are plenty of sub-plots that can be made into a whole movie.

I wonder if they will use actors for the voices or computers.
