i've just listened to that, i really wanted to see what's with all the fuss about bloody Tiesto and his "Adagio"...really, i wouldn't say the song is crap, but it's the same as millions of others of that kind

4/4 bass drum line, just crank up the tempo and add some other drum-like sounds + some gay trancy keyboard jingle with 5 notes that is repeated over and over for 3-4 minutes + the legendary shout for this music "Make some noise" + gradual increase of tempo for drums on transition from 1 part of song to another= basically millions of songs like this... where is the creativity there???

Lol, you could put this in serious discussion about music.
But really i cant believe you wrote this.
If it would be so simple as you say, everyone would be a famous trance producer and make such hits.
Trance is not a music which everyone can like and understand. I for myself totally disliked it until i sterted to listen it a bit more. Simply said, good trance songs are in making you feel every rhythm, every transition, every slight sound in background of main stream, to desire next beats or uplifting sounds, and i mean FEEL, not hear. Totally let your brain focus on those sounds and let you fell what producer wanted to bring to you. A special feeling or atmosphere which the song hides. The real trance, what is its name afterall.

dont get me wrong,i can understand that people like that kind of music, and there are some good stuff to be found there. idk, i'd say that some 10% of electronic music could be considered good, mostly if it's something original and creative. my question is, if the creation of that music is so simple, and it is, if you compare it to how much time ppl spend to learn few basic chords on guitar, or keyboards, why aren't people being more creative with it?? i think you could create great stuff from your PC, just if you add some new dimension to the songs, using several programmes, or inputs for various instruments... i think people are underacheiving with this music, i mean u can literaly reproduce every piece of equipment needed by dl-ing (or purchasing if you're feeling generous) the right software, why not using that advantage to improve the music, instead of just following the same old pattern...

why not using that advantage to improve the music, instead of just following the same old pattern...Well its used a lot as i could notice, like piano or saxophone sounds. And good trance songs aren't produced only in simple programs or mixets or w/e since things as keyboards are used for creating melodies as well. Still, dont forget that is electronic music which is in the end something totally new and different so it isnt anything unusual that common ways of making sounds arent used so much. About creativity part you are partly right that there are many similar things which you can find very often in mass songs. But its also true that when you listen trance just to listen it from curioucity you listen it very superficially so only those rough parts come to your ears and you miss to enjoy real things in it.

From all what I've heard from some nice trance, which i really managed to feel and totally enjoy i can say that Trance is something like clasic of 21th century. The idea is same, just the means are different. Complex sounds without vocals used to make you perceive something special and unique.

Im not some uber fan of Trance, since i listen some other genders quite more, but from my personal experience i cant say its bad, monotone or superficial music. I did think so with first few songs i heard , but as i deeped myself more i found it much richer and enjoyable ;)

I'd say their music sucks , they got famous musicians because musicians were rare at those ages and there were no conditions to make music like in 20th and 21st century so they pulled the best out of the existing instruments... I doubt you like them either... There's no worthy message they send.
