All of u who have Nvidia graphics, DO NOT UPDATE to latest driver 196.75, cuz it malfunctions your vga cooler, and there is possibility to burn your card. It happened to me, when i installed, it gone to 115 degrees while in standby. Thx God i had riva installed, and prevented it to burn.
If you already installed it roll to previous one.

Mine is also 9800gt. And that happened,115 degrees (celsius) while in standby. So if you installed 196.75 driver, better remove it. Im using WinXP sp3 x32, dunno about linux.

Drivers don't update automatically. Unless you recently downloaded new drivers and installed them, you're safe.

Cen
5th March 2010, 07:53 PM
You can only have this problem if you have recently DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS.

If you didn't update your drivers, you can't have those problems. :)

I have 9500GT and i recently re-install windows 7 and install driver-"196.21_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_english_whql" from nvidia website. Is this driver ok cuz when i play dota my pc crashes some times and says that i have some problem with the driver ? :\ I also don't have Nvidia Control Panel now. I had it before re-install windows 7 but now i don't have it , so how can i see my version just to be sure that is 196.21 ? Sry for my english.

So your saying that driver is fine by itself, except that it causes insane temperatures only when playing blizzard games ? How could this have hapend ?

Cen
11th March 2010, 09:47 PM
It's not just blizzard games. The problem was firstly spotted by SCII beta players, that's all.

I have had recently the same problem, but with Ati graphics, once the FAN has been fully used 100% it has shut down, this "bug" with 75 drivers for Nvidia works same way, as you reach a certain % at FAN it shut downs, also having a passive cooling has its advantage - MSI NX6200 TC :P

Nvidia sucks only for "old" games like Warcraft3. Belive me friend, ATI sucks way more than NVidia. I had them both.
